Jeremy Nelson is President of REgeneration Development Strategies, where he advises public and private clients on strategic community revitalization and redevelopment.

His practice focuses on catalyzing community consensus and sustainable economic development, through the integration of land use and transportation planning, urban design and placemaking, and real estate development projects.

Throughout his 15-year career, Mr. Nelson has worked at diverse organizations, including the City of Portland Planning Bureau, Group 4 Architecture + Design, Livable City, and the Land Use and Transportation Coalition.

Most recently, Jeremy was a Vice President at Vialta Group and a principal and practice leader at Nelson\Nygaard Consulting where he managed multimodal transportation projects for communities of all sizes, as well as a variety of public-private infill redevelopment projects.

Mr. Nelson is a frequent speaker on sustainable planning and revitalization strategies, sharing a comprehensive perspective on community transformation coupled with a practical focus on implementation to achieve real-world results.

Collaborating with a select group of colleagues and teaming partners, Jeremy’s
projects have been recognized by peers with “best practice” awards including the Congress for the New Urbanism, American Planning Association, Association of Landscape Architects, and Association of Environmental Professionals.

Mr. Nelson holds a B.A. in History from Reed College, a M.A. in Urban Planning from UCLA, and a Certificate in Sustainable Management from the Presidio Graduate School, where he has served as an “Expert in Residence” guest lecturer. Working with communities throughout the United States, Jeremy and his family split their time between San Francisco, California and Durango, Colorado.
